I have an idea for how BBC could raise some cash. Cost of a license is £174 - I'm in the US so in round numbers that is about $240 p.a. or $20 per month. I pay (or rather I used to pay - I cancelled because I was disgusted how much they shoveled towards Harry and Meghan and I am no royalist) $17.99 plus sales tax for Netflix. Let people like me pay for a license which would give me full access to the Beeb on my computer or my telly . I pay for quality information: I support the Guardian, the New York Times, local public radio (which carries a lot of World Service) and others.
Depressing that this even needs to be said but thank you for saying it.

So so important! Why so few likes? So worrying! Don’t they realise how significant & important the World Service is?!

"BBC website in US launches paid subscription service"
"$49.99 (£36) a year or $8.99 (£6.50) a month for access to most BBC News stories and features, and to stream the BBC News channel."

Including non-news content is likely difficult because much of this is separately licensed out (think Doctor Who).
